Welcome to Bridgnorth Bowling Club

Jim Atkinson

It is with great regret that we must announce that Jim has passed away this week.

Jim joined the club in 2009 and has been captain & vice-captian of various teams as well as a stalwart of Thursday social bowling. He will be much missed for his laugh & sense of humour.

Our thought are with Barbara & the family.

History

Bridgnorth Bowling Club (B.B.C) was founded in 1596 and is one of the oldest clubs in the UK. It was originally located at the Hundred House on the Ludlow Road but moved to its present location in 1906 when the land was leased from Apley Estates.

The current clubhouse was built in 1997 following a Lottery grant and we believe it to be one of the best in Shropshire. .

The club runs a number of teams in the local leagues of Mid Shropshire and Highley

Additionally the club has a strong social side and holds regular weekend events. One of our longstanding traditions is the Thursday night tea that has been running for decades. It is followed by an evening of social bowling where new and old members bowl in an informal competition.
