ALAN BRIERLEY FUNERAL - 23 October 20
The funeral is happening this Friday (23rd) at 12.30 but, sadly, there are restrictions on how many people can attend the ceremony. As such if you would like to pay your respects, the funeral cortege will be walked down the High St from Northgate at about 11.40 on Friday.
SAD NEWS - Alan Brierley
It is with deep regret that we must announce the death of Alan Brierley who passed away on 25 September. Alan had been a member of the club since 1986 and was still playing until fairly recently well into his 80’s. He has been a stalwart member of many teams over the years and had a great sense of fun throwing himself wholeheartedly into social events not to mention the hedges on the way home.
He will be very much missed.
Our thoughts are with Marlene & the family at this sad time.
After serious consideration the committee have decided not to re-open the clubhouse and bar at the moment. This decision will be reviewed at the next committee meeting at the end of August beginning of September, when hopefully things have changed.
This decision has not been taken lightly and we feel that the disadvantages of opening the clubhouse and bar far outweigh the advantages.
This virus is still out there, and our club members health is far more important than the financial implications.
We realise everyone will not agree with this decision, but for a small club like ours safety is paramount. We will endeavour to re-open when we are happy that is safe to do so.

Bridgnorth Bowling Club (B.B.C) was founded in 1596 and is one of the oldest clubs in the UK. It was originally located at the Hundred House on the Ludlow Road but moved to its present location in 1906 when the land was leased from Apley Estates.
The current clubhouse was built in 1997 following a Lottery grant and we believe it to be one of the best in Shropshire. .
The club runs a number of teams in the local leagues of Mid Shropshire and Highley
Additionally the club has a strong social side and holds regular weekend events. One of our longstanding traditions is the Thursday night tea that has been running for decades. It is followed by an evening of social bowling where new and old members bowl in an informal competition.
